Why does specialty coffee cost more?

Specialty coffee comes from farms that grow quality coffee in smaller batches, the soil is nurtured and that is where you get consistent, single-origin flavor, the berries stay on the plant longer, allowing them to fully ripen which allows them to soak up more of the rich soil and get their flavor. Only fully ripened berries are removed by hand from the plants.

It is a more labor intensive process, but that is what it takes to grow rich, flavorful, quality coffee.
